This weekend is Armory Park, live music at 8pm, with a lesson at 7pm. I’ll be in Albuquerque at the Lindy Exchange, but if you’re in Tucson you should be at Armory Park.

Also, I just created a facebook fan page. So watch there for updates.

But just two weeks after that on July 18th we will be treated to Tucson’s latest dance venue: 520 Swing. Why 520? It’s the area code!

The forum has been kinda slow for a long time now so I thought I’d try something new: comments are now turned on (at least for this post).  Hopefully we can get some discussion/feedback on the content here at swingtucson.com

Can’t Stop the LindyHop!
Teachers: Howard and Gayl Zhao
Time frame: 4 Classes from Jan 27 – Feb 16
Pre-requisite: Must have taken at least one beginner Lindy Hop class which taught the basic swing-out
Description: This session will develop your lindy hopping skills by focusing on 4 main areas: Connection, Footwork, Variations and Musicality. Each class will include elements of each of these four focus areas in addition to teaching fun moves to broaden your lindy hop knowledge. In the last 15 minutes, we will introduce advanced elements or a moves combo that will challenge the more experienced dancers.

I hope everyone had a great winter break! I also hope everyone is ready for a new semester of classes and excited for some swing dancing!

Our weekly lessons start up again tomorrow, Tuesday January 20th. As usual, we’ll be meeting in Ina Gittings room 16 (the basement) at 7pm for a lesson (by Howard and Gayl!) and then open dancing will go from 8-10pm.  See you on the dance floor.

As for quick announcements, I hope that those from our group who made it out to the Utah Lindy Exchange will be able to bring in some photos, new moves, or at least a renewed excitement for Lindy Hop and Blues. I want to hear how the dancing was!

Free Dance Tomorrow in Wilbur’s Underground! (basement level of Student Union)

Tucson Swings starts up at 9pm! There are other activities that night so go early for a ton of fun(Comedy Corner “Best of Show” at 8pm) No classes the next day so let loose!
